Binta-Question 7.

Question 7-Connect the ideas of this film to your own educational experience. What does the film make you think about?

When I saw the film I noticed that all the children were learning and the same level. There were no grades (1st, 2nd, etc.). Every child learned the same thing with other children that could have been half their age. When we attend school, we are placed in a room with other students who are the same age as us, and we learn different things based on our grade. Easier things are taught early on and so on. When Soda was begging to go to school, her father would not allow her because in their culture it was believed that they cook, clean, and do anything that is asked of them. In America it is expected that we attend school, both men and women.

When I saw Binta attending school I felt privleged to be able to attend school with out having to ask. I am able to learn with children my age and I am allowed to learn freely. School is a very important asspect in todays culture.

Free Writing!

My name is Kerri Krumtinger and I was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. I am a very outgoing person and Im always up for a challenge. I have three siblings, which include an older brother, a twin sister, and a younger brother. I am taking Com 101 for a few reasons. Mostly I am taking this class because it is required and I enjoy writing. I would also like to improve my writing skills. I work at a pub in Orland Park, which I really enjoy. I love meeting new people, that is probally why I enjoy my job so much.

This class is required in order to transfer to a university. It is a required course because you will use Com 101 everyday of your life. Such as taking notes for a class, or at a job when you may be asked to write a report or a letter.

My schooling experiences have led me to do well and to push myself through certain situations, even those that are not school related. School has made me who I am today because I know that if I work hard and buckle down for something I am able to do well and exel.
